Mid 2012 MacBook Pro Running Slowly

Hello,

Within the past few months my 13" Mid 2012 MacBook Pro has started to run incredibly slowly. Simple tasks such as booting up the computer, opening and closing applications and saving files take an extremely long time. There is even an extremely long lag time between when I type something, and when the words actually appear. It took 10 minutes today from when I typed out the title of a keynote presentation, to when it actually appeared on my screen. My computer is continually freezing and even crashing.

In recent days a problem has developed where I am unable to find documents that I have saved on my computer in Finder at all. If I need to create a new document I have to save it to the desktop or else it will not appear for hours, or even days after it is saved.

All of my software is up to date, and I have run disk utility and a hardware test and everything has come up clean. I regularly turn off, and restart my computer. When the problem first began I took my computer into the Apple store and reset it to factory settings. After downloading my information again from Time Machine my computer worked great, for about two weeks, then it started running slowly again. It took me over an hour today to submit an assignment for one of my classes because it kept freezing.

At this point I am at my wits end over all of this. Is there anything else I can try to alleviate this problem? My professors are all telling me to bite the bullet and buy a new computer. I am hoping that is not necessary quite yet.

Ok, looks like a lot of your adobe files are missing, that's why you're having problems with that maybe.

Anywhere when it says [clean up] next to it next time your run a report press the button and it will clean it up.

What's scapple?

Do you need all those Safari plugins? Do you need Flash?

Do you use VirtualBox often? That could be slowing down your system.

Might also be worth installing the free version of malwarebytes.com/mac just in case, you can always uninstall it if it doesn't find anything.

Also go to the App Store and update to the latest version of your MacOS 10.13.2.

When you've done the above, run another report with EtreCheck and post back here.
