New to Apple and a bit lost and confused

So, I have a iPod Nano 16 gig with nothing on it. I just downloaded and signed up for iTunes and all that good stuff. My question is......Without purchasing music from Apple, is there a way I can upload the music I have on CD's and load them onto my Nano? It just seems silly to re purchase music that I already own.

Yeah just pop the CD into your computer and import it to iTunes.
