Is there a way to change Apple Pay card verification?

My wallet only supplies one verification method which is a message sent to my old number. I have contacted my card issuer and my phone number with my card is the same as the one I have now. I had managed to change it once before, but can’t remember now. Help please? Apple Pay would come in handy for me :)
