I am keen on art and have just bought the iPad Pro 10.5" Gold which has a white surround. Is there a screen protector out there which changes the colour (by overlay) of the white surround (to black preferably) at the same time allows pen action on the screen?

If you wanted a black bezel iPad, you should have purchased the space gray color back version of the iPad Pro.
All other colored backed iPad models all have white bezels.
Only space gray model iPads have black screen bezels.
You are not going find a screen protector with bkack bezels because a large majority of screen protectors are clear, no color.
For iPhones your looking for an edge to edge screen protector, but for iPads there isn’t one. So I suggest that you get a skin from Dbrand to cover the front, then put a screen protector on that. You could also permanently change the screen to black by changing the lcd display or replacing just the glass part (not recommended). I believe apple has made it so replacing the iPad screen won’t void your warranty

IDevices have NO user accessible parts.
Any tampering, opening of an iDevice WILL void any and all warranties, as well as void any future servicing of said iDevice DIRECTLY from any Apple Store or Apple in California.
Users who tamper with their iDevices will have to rely on either Apple authorised service centers OR third party servicing support centers.
Your talk about putting a skin on the front then another clear screen protector over that is going to be fraught with application issues/problems applying a thin plastic skin, then putting another glass or plastic film over the skin.

Thanks, I guess there is a marketing opportunity there for protective film manufacturers. Another way is to buy a full size screen protector and do a bit of permanent marker pattern on it over the bezel border. Might be cool!

You cannot replace just the glass on any current iOS device. The glass screen is laminated to the display at the display manufacturer’s factory. The entire display is a single unit.

Even with that, the article states exceptions and only partial coverage under AppleCare warranties when using a non-authorised third party Apple repair center!

Not with any of the current iPhones or iPad pros or any of the devices that use fully laminated display units. I’ve seen people try it and it simply does not work. The glass screen is laminated to the display under vacuum at the factory. It is not simply stuck on and it does not simply pry off, nor can you simply glue a piece of glass back onto what’s left after trying to pry the laminated screen off.
Trying to pry just the glass cover screen off the integrated display is just a good way to ruin a perfectly good Retina display.

It is allowed for iPhones I believe
When replacing a screen it is best to replace the whole thing and transfer the speakers and button but it is possible to slowly pry off the glass and get a replacement kind of like a screen protector
iPad screen protectors.
