Transfer data wirelessly to an IMac?

On average, how long should it take to wirelessly transfer data from a Time Capsule to a new iMac?

It's impossible to say without knowing exactly what the connection speed and quality of the connection might be....and....how much data will be transferred over.

On average, you can expect about 30 GB per hour to transfer over with a wired Ethernet connection between the Mac and Time Capsule. So, for example if you have 150 GB of data on your Mac, it will take about 5 hours for the transfer to complete.

Wireless is always significantly slower than a wired connection, so it might take anywhere from 3-5 times or more for the transfer to occur using wireless. So, a guess using the same example above would be 15-25 hours or more.

Hold down the option key on your Mac while you click on the WiFi menu at the top of the Mac's screen.

Look for the Tx Rate

Post back with the Tx Rate and we can give you a better guess on things....if....you also know how large the backup on the Time Capsule might be. Post back with the Tx Rate and how much data is being transferred.
