The best (and almost only) database application for MacOS is FileMaker Pro, You can convert Access files to FileMaker Pro:

Thank you very much for your reply. I am sure that for a high end user filemaker is a very good database capable of solving complex database problems. However, for a minor user like myself, it is very expensive. I am a little disappointed that Apple do not have a much less expensive database for low end users. I hear so much that Apple is so much better than Microsoft, and in many cases I would agree eg Numbers is as good as Excel if not better. However Excel does have a degree of databasing within Excel. Is it possible that some software company has a much less expensive database. If can you recommend one.
I only use FileMaker and have done for years, but this might be worth a look:
