old iPhone for texting?
I use an old iPhone like an iPod "Touch". Can I use iMessage some way also?

If the device is logged in with your Apple ID, the device is connected to wi-fi, and you provide your Apple ID to those people with iOS devices that you wish to contact you, then yes, you can use it for iMessage. You will not, however; be able to use it for SMS messages, unless you have an active iPhone and they are signed in with the same Apple ID and you have activated Text Message Forwarding.
