Can SSD and Fusion drives coexist into a mid-2017 iMac?

Hello,

I am planning to order a mid-2017 27" 5K iMac, equipped with a 2GB Fusion Drive.

I have an 1GB SSD drive from a previous Mac that I want to install and make default, while also using the Fusion drive.

Is it possible for the two to co-exist?

Thanks in advance,

K.Ant.

Yes, put the SSD you already own in an enclosure (either a USB 3 or Thunderbolt) and connect it to the iMac. If you want to use that SSD as your boot drive then you will need to install Mac OS on it and then ensure it's selected as the boot drive in System Preferences.

For enclosures I'd recommend using OWD (www.macsales.com) as they have a wide variety of enclosures, all work with your iMac.
