We received a suspicious email from "Apple support"

the email states the account has been locked due to suspicious transaction attempts and it is asking us to hit the "verify my account" button on the email. How do we verify ?

if the email does not identify you with the full name you have on file with Apple and instead addresses you as dear customer, dear email@domian.com, etc. then it's fake. Apple will only send emails your name e.g. Dear Jimmy Cmpit (and in my case it's usually followed by a cease and desist warning.)
