Why do I have keep logging into itunes multiple times per session?

Whenever I start itunes on my Windows 10 computer, I am immediately prompted three successive times to login to my account, then, two or three minutes later, after I'm in and thing everything is finally OK, I'm usually prompted at least one other time. I have no idea what all of this stupidity is about and why it just suddenly started. I see lots of other posts with similar concerns, but no real reasons for why it is doing this or how to stop it; at least nothing that works for me.

Any ideas?
