two factor authentication apple tv

After activating two factor authentication on my apple account, i was prompted to enter a verification code after turning on my apple tv. I entered the code, and everything worked properly. However, since then, I regularly receive notices that an apple device is attempting to sign in, and a verification code is supplied. This happens even when the apple TV is in standby. I am not aware of any of my other devices attempting to sign in. How do I stop this loop?
