I have a shared site from a vacation, and now trying to create a photo book, but I can't upload the photos from the shared site. Any suggestions?
MacBook Pro, OS X Yosemite (10.10.5), Photos from 2 different libraries

You state you are using Yosemite - is that correct?
What are you calling a "shared Site" There is no such thing in Photos - do you by any chance mean a shared album using iCloud Photo Sharing? If you do and if you are trying to use photos others have uploaded to the shared album then you have to import them to use them - select the desired photos and right click and import
