1. click Remove/Report on
2. check the SMART status of your HDD
3. open your Activity Monitor and quit any processes that are showing in red.
4. and re-run EtreCheck.
Now then, if the only thing in the new report is processes killed due to insufficient RAM.
Reinstall at least 1 or both of those Crucial modules, then test and re-run the EtreCheck report.
Report attached below; unfortunately most of it doesn't mean a thing to me, as I said I am not at all technical. Very grateful for anything you may be able to suggest.

It is a RAM Module Memory Error.
Exactly which year model iMac do you have..?
Are having problems with starting up or running your iMac..?
Did you added or replace the RAM in your iMac with third party modules...?
If you did add or replace the RAM modules in your iMac, what was Brand and Spec's of those modules...?
It would also help a lot, if you ran and posted an EtreCheck report.
iMac is 2012 and has been running slowly, sometimes freezing, lately. I added two third party modules when I first bought the machine (don't know the brand or specs) and haven't seen any problems until now. I'm not at all technical I'm afraid so don't know what an EtreCheck report is or how to generate it. Today my Mac seems to be running ok.
I've removed the additional modules (2 x Crucial 8GB DDR3L - 1600 SODIMM MAC) and the hardware test now shows no fault, so thank you for the advice. Running on 16GB RAM doesn't, at the moment, seem any different to 32GB but what do you advise if I decide to increase it again?
Try re-installing the Crucial modules one at a time and re-test it.
(your system will run fine on 24GB)
If you find a bad Crucial module, contact Crucial for a replacement.
(the Crucial modules have a lifetime warranty)
If both modules tests OK in the 24GB configuration..? Then you may have just had a loose or partially seated module and you should try re-installing all of the modules and re-test it. Don't be afraid to give each module a firm push to ensure that they are all fully seated in the slots.
Thanks, I'll try that. Spoke too soon about running ok on 16GB, now keep getting "beachballing". Sorry about EtreCheck, didn't see the link on your first message - must be getting old. I've now downloaded it and will run a check before I try your suggestion about the memory.
16GB should be enough RAM unless you have a lot of App's open or set to open at startup.
If you can run EtreCheck without restarting your computer, that way we see your system and RAM usage under normal operating conditions.
Followed your advice and EtreCheck reported "Excellent" performance with no processes killed due to insufficient RAM. I've reinstalled the Crucial modules anyway and EtreCheck shows all RAM as "ok".
Thank you very much for all your help.
That is great news, you're welcome!
To run EtreCheck click on the blue link that I provided above and follow the instructions.
