My work Mac Book Pro has stopped powering up. The power light on the cord only lights up green for a brief second then nothing. Apple store couldnt get it either but wondering if there is a way to swap hard drives to get files off of the drive?

Depending on the exact model of the MacBook Pro, you might be able to remove the internal drive, place it into a drive caddy or enclosure, and then, connect it directly to another Mac to access the files on this drive.
You can swap out the hard drive and put it in an enclosure and see if you can read it on another Mac. If power is the problem hopefully the drive is not affected.
