What has Microsoft done? I can't access my docs without paying them. Help!

I went to do some work this morning and surprise! Microsoft has replaced my MS apps (Office 2008) with some version that I don't want not have to pay for the privilege of using their software. Talk about Ransomeware!! Even if I try to revert to my previous version, I can't do it because the "Restore previous purchase" just spins around and around with no end. I tried activating the one month trial until I could figure out what to do, and I get a message that my Apple ID and password for iTunes is incorrect. Funny, I just signed into the forum with the same one I've always used. Why is it now incorrect in some places and not in others? And what the heck is a "Microsoft Certificate" that I have a password for that I've never seen. I thought the login password was the same as the system password. Can anyone help me?

I doubt Microsoft replaced your Office 2008 with Office 2016. Your IT department may have replaced the application. I am using Office 2008 in High Sierra and mine hasn't been replaced.

If necessary, contact iTunes Support. Scroll to the bottom of the page in the 2nd link.

FYI ... Microsoft no longer supports Office 2008 or 2011. In addition, you will be required to use Office 2016 with macOS High Sierra.

Did you also verify that you can sign in successfully to Manage your Apple ID with this ID?

Yes, I can sign in to Manage your Apple ID. But, for some reason, it isn't recognized when I try to activate Office 365 from their prompt.

This is a home computer, not an office one. I'm the only IT and pretty poor. I don't know what this is all about.

Your Apple ID and your Microsoft Account that you use for subscribing to Office 365 are two different accounts, even if you use the same username & password for both (you shouldn't)
