download from cloud has stalled

I no longer want documents stored in the cloud and have started changing storage from cloud to my Mac. The process seems to be hung up with about 50 documents still "preparing to move" and no change since yesterday morning. The documents folder in my finder is empty except for Microsoft User Data with a collection of random items.

I saw a post indicating this could be very time-consuming so I changed the sleep time to "never" yesterday.

Any suggestions about how to proceed?

update to my previous post

Several hours after I posted my question I got a notice about an update to OS, which I installed. Today I tried moving documents from cloud to my documents file and had the same problem of an apparent hang. A few minutes ago, I tried again and the documents moved--very quickly.

Go figure. Problem solved, although I don't know how or why.
