Can I run 10.8 on MacBook Pro?

Hi,

Is it possible to install 10.8 on my MacBook Pro currently running Sierra? Or can I use 10.8 with an external drive or flash drive?

Thanks hh12

MacBook Pro, macOS Sierra (10.12.4), null

What are the error messages it returns?

Try booting into Recovery, and partition the drive from outside your macOS installation.

That depends on your exact model of Mac.

If the Mac came from factory with any OS later than 10.8, then its not possible to run it. You cannot run an older operating system than what your computer came with from factory.

If your Mac came with 10.8 or earlier from factory, you can partition the hard drive, and install 10.8 from a bootable USB with the 10.8 installer.
