Using Logic Pro X. My audio is going out through my Mac speakers. It needs to go out to the audio interface (headphones) to be able to record. Documentation is confusing, unclear, or nonexistent.

I find the documentation existent and reasonably clear - but the key (catch 22) is in knowing the right terms to search for. In this case it is 'audio devices'
If the audio devices disappeared several days, then it's maybe a problem of 10.13.2. Did you upgraded your system these days? If yes, does the audio device ever worked after that upgrade?
Some audio interfaces are having the same problem.
Go to your Preferences in Logic Pro (Logic Pro > Preferences) and change the output. If you want it to be a permanent thing (audio through headphones and interface even when not using Logic), change the Output in the System Preferences > Sound on your computer.
Yes, been there. My Output Device Audio Preferences for Logic Pro are Built-In and System Setting. Both do the same thing - send audio to the Mac speakers. The System Prefs/Sound is Built-in only so maybe my audio interface is not configured properly. It was working a few days ago.
Well, than that's the problem. If it isn't in AMS, that means that Mac OS doesn't see it. That could be a (silly simple or supercomplicated) hardware issue.
The first thing to check is the seating of your USB plugs, second exclude that it is the USB port on your computer by hooking up another piece (memorystick, MIDI controller etc) known to work on that USB port, or third by hooking the Presonus to a different USB port. If the USB ports all work but the Presonus works on none of them, switch out the cable (for one you know works). If still nothing, fourth: check the Presonus' software, if it is up to date and if things are set correctly. Also doublecheck any switches on the box itself.
And the audio interface (Presonus AudioBox) is not appearing in the Mac Audio Midi Setup interface. A real Catch 22.
