Can I mirror my iPhone to an iMac?

Can I mirror my iPhone or iPad to an iMac? If yes, how would I do that? I do have an Apple TV, but that obviously can't connect to a Mac. But I don't have a TV in every room, and id like to see my iPhone's screen on a Mac. If it needs an app, please recommend a good one.

You can record the screen of your iPhone using Quicktime. I haven't tried but you might be able to watch at the same time.

I just tried to aiprplay to my macbook pro from my iPhone X with and without pairing it via bluetooth and it did not work.
