High Sierra broke my macbook's hard drive

The moment i finished starting the update high sierra, even before i actually fully set it up, it started saying that i need to format my disk drive and to completely reset it. it will not even let me add or remove files.

also there are many files that seem to be invisible now.

Some programs won't even work correctly anymore and none of my flash or disk drives can be read.

right click them and open the link

also a restart fixed the hard drive problem (which is weird since i restarted it like 3 times and only now it worked)

it seemed to have formatted my Mac OS Extended to APFS (Encrypted), i also had to download NTFS so i could transfer my apple files to the USB disk drive i use for windows (didnt have space on laptop) then i will transfer them back after formatting

thank you

How can First Aid fail on a USB drive when you state that you don't have one?

Install El Capitan or Later from Scratch

Backup if possible before continuing.

  1. Restart the computer. Immediately after the chime hold down the CommandandRkeys until the Apple logo appears. When the Utility Menu appears:
  2. Select Disk Utility from the Utility Menu and click on Continue button.
  3. When Disk Utility loads select the volume (indented entry, usually Macintosh HD) from the Device list.
  4. Click on the Erase icon in Disk Utility's main window. A panel will drop down.
  5. Set the Format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled.)
  6. Click on the Apply button, then wait for the Done button to activate and click on it.
  7. Quit Disk Utility and return to the Utility Menu.
  8. Select Install OS X and click on the Continue button.
