I use ebay and suddenly it goes and a page saying Log onto app Mediaplex.com.80 comes up. Can anyone tell me what it is. When it comes up I close down safari and open the ebay page again.

Sounds like a Safari question more than a Pages (word processing application) question.
The page sounds like an overly agressive ad or a phishing attempt to gather some information (eg. passwords and ID) from you.
You're taking the right action.
You might get additional information on the page or on actions to take in the Safari community. I'll request a transfer of your post to that community. The people there will probably want to know the version numbers for
