Why not orient a MacMini on its side?

I have a MacMini. Is there any good reason not to position the device on its side?

I have used an OWC acrylic enclosure from the day I purchased my MacMini;

it runs cooler inside the enclosure, more efficient airflow

it sits on a bracket fitted to the monitor so zero footprint on my table
