I have a late 2013 iMac 27" with 16GB ram. 1TB hard drive . This past week it's been running very slow and beach balling an awful lot. There are 2 programs with plugins that I rely heavily upon, Photoshop and Lightroom.

Everything is up to date. I will post the Etrecheck along with this. I am considering wiping it out and re-installing from scratch. (something I have not had to do since I stopped using windows based machines in 2009.) I'm also considering upgrading my ram to 32GB. There were some things and legacy things listed in etercheck that I removed or cleared that were causing some problems and the machine did improve but now it's back to where I was earlier. Very frustrating.

Any experts: Are there any glaring issues you see with what I have running? Or should I just wipe out and restore, or re-install all my apps. There really is a lot of stuff on here that got transferred over from my 2009 machine that I'm sure is causing some issues. Any help is appreciated.

Last question: How would I go about wiping out the computer and installing from scratch? I do have a recent time machine backup but I'm leery of reinstalling the same stuff that is causing issues all over again.
