I would check amazon if you need a battery if you have a small budget.

Let's see: A good quality replacement battery (meaning one that won't explode, catch fire, or fail early) should cost around $40. If you pay less than that you are taking a huge risk.

Apple charges $79 to replace a battery, and warrants the replacement and the phone. So you can save about $40 by replacing it yourself. Replacing it is not easy unless you have proper tools and are experienced working on microelectronic devices. In fact, I posted in another thread yesterday trying to help a user who replaced a battery, and now Touch ID no longer works in their phone. Clearly, they broke something unrelated in the process of self-repair, as this is not a usual side effect of a proper battery replacement. But now Apple will not look at the phone or offer a discounted out of warranty replacement phone.

In summary, you are gambling $40 against a phone that would cost $500 or more if you make a mistake in the process of self-repair. Those odds (11 to 1) are not great.

If you buy a cheap battery from Amazon and try to do the replacement yourself, you're taking a risk. Once you do repairs on your own phone, Apple will no longer support it, even on an out-of-warranty basis. So, if you make a mistake (easy enough to do if you're not used to working on small electronics) and your phone has a problem, you may be stuck with a non-working phone and few options. Or, if the phone stops working down the line for some other reason, instead of being eligible for an out-of-warranty replacement unit at about half the cost of a new phone, you'll have to buy a new one.

There is an old axiom that applies here: Penny wise, pound foolish.

Best of luck.
