My Epson 3880 printer is not working with my new mac

I have not been able to get my epson 3880 printer to print photo files from my macOS Sierra. They just are not communicating or Epson doesn't seem to recognize the photographic files I'm trying to print. I can go through the whole setup but then nothing happens. Also, there is not feedback that it did not work or why not....Previously I have been able to print on this Epson printer with older Macs with no glitches; with or without Photoshop. If it can work, I am also wondering about profiling for this combination. I do not have Photoshop anymore; and mainly used it previously to profile paper to ink...
