Locating video files in iMovie

Hi everyone

We have shot some video directly into iMovie on a MacBook and are trying to find where the original files are stored on our hard drive.

Any clues?

Thanks

Hello Dave_Westbound,

Thanks for that info and choosing the Apple Support Communities. If I understand correctly, you are trying to find where clips you recorded in iMovie are stored on your Mac. To do this, you can use the steps in this resource to show where clips are located in Finder.

Find the source file in the Finder for a clip in your movie

  1. In the timeline, select the video clip whose source file you want to locate in the Finder.

  2. Choose File > Reveal in Finder.

The folder containing the selected clip’s source file opens in the Finder.

Cheers!
