Plugin Not working

So I downloaded some Zoom templates off Sellfy.com and I followed all the steps in downloading it, installing it to the Motion template folder and have have restarted Final Cut Pro again. Each of these templates appear up on the transition menu but the problem is as I drag it onto a clip it gives me this sign which means either somethings wrong

and its not working. Please help.

I was hesitant to try it, but since I otherwise could not test anything, I did download it.

It is working here.

I can only think of two things:

1) Something not being placed where it should - unlikely in your case, but here is how I have the hierarchy on my mac:

2) A mismatch between the Motion and FCP X versions (more likely). What is your FCP X version?

A most common problem is the Motion version being too new for the FCP X version.

I have Motion 5.3.2 and FCP X 10.3.4. What is your FCP X version?

(NOTE: you do NOT need to have Motion for the templates to work, but if FCP X is too old this would explain your issue)

0) Don't forget to make a copy for safekeeping.

1) In the Finder, start by opening the folder containing the transition:

The selected file above is the one you will want to edit.

In the following, I will refer to BBEdit, but feel free to use any appropriate text editor in its place, as I wrote before.

You can open it in several ways.

Perhaps easiest:

-start BBEdit

-command-O to open a file

-drag the file from the Finder and onto the Open dialog box, and press enter

The first few lines of this file look like this:

Make the changes I mentioned, then command-S to save.

Looking at this plugin in Motion, I think it does not actually use any features that were new in 5.3, so it *may* be possible to do a little trick, which consists of editing the transition in a text editor (such as BBEdit, or Smultron, or even TextEdit, but be sure to save as plain text, NOT rich text).

So, here is how you may be able to do it.

1) First, make a copy of the whole folder (e.g. "Rolling Zoom In"), for safekeeping, just in case something goes wrong.

2) Open the "Rolling Zoom In" transition file inside the above folder with BBEdit.

Near the top you will see this:

<ozml version="5.8">

<displayversion>5.3</displayversion>

Change the values, so it becomes:

<ozml version="5.6">

<displayversion>5.1.2</displayversion>

and save the file.

3) Open FCP X, drag a transition to an edit point in your timeline and see if it now works.

If this works, just do the same for the other transition.

I tried this on my wife's mac, which is running Yosemite (10.10) and has FCP X 10.2.3.

It worked.

My guess is that different values may be needed to work in 10.2.1.

By the way: any particular reason why you are running this version?

What OS are you running? If I remember correctly, Yosemite supports up to 10.2.3, and El Capitan and later 10.3.4.

You may consider updating FCP X, but never do it without having a backup of the application itself and of your libraries. If for some reason a newer version doesn't work so well on your machine, you won't just be able to redownload the old one.

I think you could be right. The main reason why I have this version 10.2.1 was that a friend of mine gave it to me and I really did not want to spend $200 on a program when there are older versions available. Is there a way you know off that I could get the latest version for a much cheaper price or even free? OS as in my computers system? I have macOS Sierra.

Thank you for your help!
