I did an update on my iwatch series 1 and lost ALL my workouts

I did an update on my iwatch series 1 .. to 4.2 . I subsequently lost ALL my workouts, after trying unpair & repairing also ALL my achievements have gone too. Just comes up with Apple Watch can track workouts. I bought the watch mostly for the fitness part I am really frustrated at this development after simply updating ! I have also erased my iPhone & reinstalled that was a pointless exercise. Apple help have told me to recalibrate my watch. I don’t see how this will bring back my history and why would it all just be gone . ? Please help

Apple Watch Series 1 38mm (2nd Gen), iOS 4.2, Have tried unpairing & re-pairing

Hi

Historic Health and Activity data is stored on your paired iPhone, not on your Apple Watch. Past workouts can be viewed via the Activity app (Workouts tab) and Health app on your iPhone:

Updating the software on Apple Watch does not affect the data that is stored on your iPhone.

If your historic Health and Activity data is no longer on your iPhone (perhaps because you erased it at some stage and restored from an unencrypted backup), then you will only be able to restore any such data that may be included within the most recent encrypted backup of your iPhone, if you have made one. Health and Activity data is not included within unencrypted backups.

iCloud backups are encrypted as standard. When backing up using iTunes, backups are only encrypted if the option to "Encrypt iPhone backup" has been selected:

To do this, you will need to unpair your Apple Watch, restore your iPhone from the most recent encrypted backup (from before the data was lost) and then pair your Apple Watch again (choosing either to restore it from backup or to set it up as a new watch).

Follow the instructions here accordingly:

Thank you for your reply, I have recalibrated my watch now but I have no history on it. I updated the watch .. all data was on my phone prior to updating , all workouts & achievements gone from phone in the activity app. So I erased my phone, after trying unpair & repair of watch & phone. Reinstalling the phone did not bring history back. I think it should be somewhere but can’t seem to get it back no matter what I try. Deep reset of both devices etc etc .

I did an update on my iwatch series 1 and lost ALL my workouts
