MBP 2010: using w/o BATTERY ?
Unfortunately, I had to remove and dispose of the battery of my 7+ y.o. MacBook Pro mid 2010; it had swollen to a point where the trackpad was affected. Just didn't want to take any chances (fires, even explosions ...).
I've now been using the MBP WITHOUT ANY BATTERY for about a day, and everything seems to work fine. I've read somewhere that in such cases the processor speed goes down - I didn't notice anything.
Of course, one has to be extra careful that the MagSafe does not disconnect (I'm saving my work more often now), and if it ever does, the System Clock must be set again ASAP ...
Other than that:
Are there any downsides to operating a MacBook Pro without a battery if one doesn't need to be mobile?
