iPhone 6 - is it 2G or 3G ?

I have an iPhone 6 16BG and my phone provider have just sent a message saying they will no longer cover 2G and I have to upgrade my phone to a 3 or 4G? I have no idea what all this means and don't want to be forced into getting a new phone? Sorry for being obtuse ?
