How to burn a DVD with photos

I have made several smart albums on my iMac.

Now I want to copy one of these albums to a DVD, so my brother-in-law either can watch the photos on his PC (Windows) or put the disc into his DVD-player and watch the photos on his television.

This album is a compilation of old and new photos shot by different cameras and the very old ones have been scanned. On my iMac they are shown smoothly in the correct chronological order.

I have exported the photos, but it simply doesn't work the way I want. The picture files do not come in chronological order, they come sorted by their names, i.e. IMG_432, IMG_433 etc. New and old photos are mixed up.

Then I turned the album into a slide show, which as I understand it functions as a video. When I export the slide show onto a DVD, I can see that something is on the disc, but no windows computer will show it. Neither a regular DVD-player.

My next thought was to share an album with my brother-in-law (as he does have an iPad om which he should be able to see a shared album, but for some odd reason I may only make the album and give it a name, but no photos will go into the album.

Friends of mine suggest to use Google Photos for this purpose, but I'm not a big fan of Google so preferably I would like to avoid that.

Can anyone help me a step further - it should actually be his Christmas presents with more than 3,000 photos from his birth until today.

Thanks in advance

Niels

Try to use a different file naming preset when exporting the photos.

Instead of using the current filename, use the a prefix and a sequential number as the filename: Thy these settings for the export dialog - with "Filename : Sequential"

Yes, that should work. If the files are sorted chronologically in your album, the exported image files will be named sequentially, starting with a prefix and then a running number. This will be independent of the filetype of the original file.

I would set the last item "Subfolder format" to "None". Then all images will be exported to the same folder. With subfolder format "Moment Name", Photos will create separate folders for each moment, named by the date and the location.

Thanks again, I'll try this out as soon as possible. Perhaps not until tomorrow (just so that you know why I'm not coming back to you sooner).

It is daytime here (Denmark) and we have invited friends for tonight, and I won't score may plus-points from my wife if I "play around" with the computer tonight
