When assigning a credit card that already exists in my wallet to the Apple Pay Cash wallet card, I receive a message that the credit card is already in my wallet, and the process stops. Sure would be great if the process accepted my existing card. Thoughts?

When sending money, if you do not enough balance on your Apple Pay Cash card for the payment, follow the instructions here to select which card (that has already been added to your Wallet) is used. See under "How payment methods are chosen":
