airpods not appearing on mac

I have a set of AirPods that work fine on my iPhone. They were working fine on my MacBook Pro. I then upgraded the iPhone to the X, AirPods connect fine to that, didn't have to set them up again, but they are not connecting to the Mac, when selecting the sound icon they AirPods don't show. When opening the case lid, I get the battery indicators on the iPhone but nothing on the Mac.

Both devices are signed in with the same Apple ID and both devices have handoff enabled

Any ideas?

Hi there Desbrina.

It's great to have you at the Apple Support Communities. It sounds like your AirPods don't work with your MacBook Pro, but they're working fine with your iPhone X. I'm happy to help you get this set up again.

Use your AirPods

Set up your AirPods with other devices

The first time you set up your AirPods with an iPhone with iOS 10, follow the steps above.

To set up your AirPods with a non-Apple device or a device that isn't logged in to your iCloud account, follow these steps:

  1. Put your AirPods in the case.
  2. Open the lid.
  3. Press and hold the setup button on the back of the case until you see the status light flash white.
  4. Follow the steps to set up a Bluetooth device with your iPhone or iPod touch, Mac, or Apple TV (4th generation).
This article may help too.

Pair your Mac with a Bluetooth device

Please let me know that this resolved your AirPods connecting to your Mac.

Take care.
