How to delete files from Recent tabs on Mac

HI,

My problem is I don't like when I open my finder, that all of my recent documents were listed there. I want to delete them from the Recent list. I have already deleted files from recents menu. I know how to hide Recents from showing in sidebar too. Can you please help me with actually removing/deleting files so that they don't show up in my recents tab when I open finder.

MacBook Pro, OS X Yosemite (10.10.2)

recents is only an alias to where the documents or files are actually stored. if you delete them from recents you will be deleting from the folders they are actually stored in, be careful.
