Install MacOS on a usb bymistake

Hello,

I install MacOS High Sierra on USB drive instead of updating it through app store. Now my MacBook only starts when I connect this USB. I want to install it back to how it was without deleting any data and with the exact same settings how it was. What can I do?

MacBook, iOS 11.2
