Generation 3 watch problem sendng messages

I recently purchased a generation 3 watch w/ cellular. sometimes it will send a text message other times it won't. there are instances it will say not delivered on the watch but it will deliver on the iphone. other times it won't send on either the watch or the phone

It may help to follow the instructions here, including under the heading "Get help if you can't send or receive messages" and including unpairing and re-pairing your Apple Watch if necessary:

Keep in mind that the functions that are available on your Apple Watch when it is away from your iPhone depend on various factors including:
