Connecting to an Airpirt Express

I have an Airport Express and an Extreme. Until recently, my devices would connect to whichever signal was stronger, but now they only connect to the Extreme even if the Express signal is stronger. The green light on the Express is on so it appears to be connect. Any suggestions are very much appreciated. Thank you.

If you have an iPhone or iPad, temporarily move it close to the AirPort Express

Go to the Home Screen on the iOS device, and tap on Settings

Then, tap on WiFi

Turn off the WiFi

Wait 5-10 seconds

Then, turn the WiFi back on

Does the iPhone or iPad connect to the AirPort Express?


If you have a Mac laptop, move the laptop close to the AirPort Express

Click on the WiFi menu at the top of the screen

Turn off the WiFi

Wait 5-10 seconds

Then, click to turn the WiFi back on again

Does the Mac laptop connect to the AirPort Express?


If devices will still not connect to the Express, the Express may be defective. Reset the Express back to factory default settings and then set it up again. If the same problem persists, replace the AirPort Express.
