computer on a restart loop after downloading high sierra

When I try to start my computer, after downloading and restarting after the high sierra update, it is continuously restarting and never opening up.

A screen with text similar to "press any key to restart after an unexpected error" shows up

Hey BaiTurner,

Thanks for reaching out to us about your start up issues. I know this is not what you'd expect to experience after an update but I'm here to help get you back up and running again. If your Mac won't boot normally, what we'd like to try and do first is see if we can get your Mac to boot into recovery. From there we can run a First Aid using Disk Utility on the drive to make sure there aren't any errors that could prevent it from starting up normally.

Check out this link for steps on how to do this.
Repair a disk

If you still have issues, then the link below offers a more extensive approach to get your Mac to start normally.
OS X: When your computer spontaneously restarts or displays "Your computer restarted because of a problem."

Please let me know how this turns out for you.

Cheers.
