after the update it no longer recognizes my 2nd external monitor. Both monitors work if they are the only 1 plugged in (1 mini dvi, 1 hdmi) on my 15" mac pro. but when I plug in both monitors ( the way it was working prior to the update) only 1 monitor and the built in are recognized.
any suggestions would be appreciated.

Thank you for all the information, I am still reviewing but it looks like I am still in spec and this has all worked for months, it worked after upgrading to High Sierra, but after this mornings update, it no longer will recognize a 2nd monitor.
And if it makes any difference, if I restart, it always uses the HDMI based monitor, but after its up I can unplug that cable and it switches to the thunderbolt based monitor and the built in monitor always works as well.
I have a similar problem with my MBP (13-inch, 2017, 4x TB3, 3.1 GHz i5, Intel Iris Plus 650):
After installing the 10.13.2 update my previously perfect running external ASUS monitor (connected on USB-C) is not detected anymore. That is really annoying!
Any update on this as I have the same issue! My Macbook does no longer recognize the VGA monitor?
