Macbook trackpad won't physically click

Hi,

One day I've opened my Macbook Pro and I couldn't physically click on the trackpad. The tapping does work, however, no physical click is possible (the trackpad feels hard, like it is resisting the clicking).

What I've tried so far:

  • Restarting did not make a difference.
  • Shutting down the laptop did not work.
  • SMC reset (with Shift, Option and Control buttons with the power button and the laptop connected to a charger) did not work.
  • Command and Option with P and R buttons also did not work.

Could anyone suggest what to do next and did anyone had this kind of situation?

Thank you.

MacBook Pro (Retina, 13-inch,Early 2015), macOS High Sierra (10.13.1)

check for swollen battery or trackpad mis-aligned in the chassis.

Swollen battery may show itself as an opening or bulging in the front seam where top-case and bottom cover meet. If that seam appears to have opened, even a little, you should see service right away.
