Why are 'My Albums' invisible when uploading photos to Facebook?

Ever since I upgraded to iOS11 on my iPhone 6, when I go to Facebook and try to upload an old photo from one of my 'My Albums' in my iPhone's Photos app, Facebook's photo selection dropdown won't let me navigate to any of the "My Albums" subfolders on my iPhone, like I used to be able to do.

Instead, it will only let me upload photos that reside in "Camera Roll, Selfies, Panoramas, Videos, or Favorites".

The only workaround I've found is:
(a) switch out of Facebook into the iPhone's Photos app,

(b) manually navigate to the desired old photo,

(c) make a temporary COPY of it, (which automatically falls into "Camera Roll"),

(d) switch back to Facebook,

(e) navigate to the COPY in Camera Roll,

(f) upload the COPY to Facebook,

(g) switch back to Photos, and

(h) delete the unnecessary COPY.

This makes extra work for me, wastes time, and wastes iPhone storage. I wonder why this change in the interaction between iOS11 and Facebook has been so curiously re-engineered. It doesn't seem to benefit me.

iPhone 6, iOS 11.2, 64 GB ram
