Macbook Pro June 2017 Model Trackpad Bug

Hi, a week ago I purchased a refurbished 2017 Macbook Pro (16GB of 2133MHz LPDDR3 onboard memory, 256GB PCIe-based onboard SSD - without the Touch Bar). The trackpad was a problem from the start. Many times when I'd click 'control + the trackpad,' the trackpad would freeze (or become spongy.) The trackpad wouldn't click. And once in a while the trackpad wouldn't click even when I wasn't clicking on 'control' first. I called Apple and they sent me a replacement refurbished computer with the exact same specs. Just received it today. And go figure, it is having the exact same issue as the other one. Am I doing something wrong? I've been on the phone with Apple and they've tried everything they could think of to no avail. Now they are asking me to make an appointment at the Apple store to see if someone there can fix the hardware. Isn't it strange that the same exact model, with the same exact specs, has the trackpad bug and the tech department doesn't know about it or how to fix it? Any help from this great community or should I just return now a second computer for my money back. Just want to add that I've had a Macbook Pro since 2014 and have never had an issue with the trackpad.

MacBook Pro (13-inch, 2017, 2 TBT3), macOS High Sierra (10.13.2)
