How to delete words from your keyboard?

I have tried to figure this out on my own but I cannot figure it out. My phone keeps changing the word “it” to “I.T”. It is very annoying seeing as it’s a commonly used word. I have already reset the keyboard dictionary with no help, tried to setup keyboard shortcuts and that didn’t work either. It’s driving me nuts!
