I’ve searched a little and a few websites give third party apps that can search your phone to find the erased messages. Didn’t do this because I was a bit skeptical and didn’t trust it. Do you know if those work at all?

Can you please explain what you meant by this? iOS Continuity will route messages to other Apple devices, is that what you're referring to? That would have had to have been set up in advance, before messages were deleted, but is a good tip if the conditions were met.

Yes.
If you have another iDevice with iMessages active on it, then you can sync these over iCloud to receive them on your other iDevices.
If not, then no.
They are gone.

All apps runs in a sandbox. No messing around allowed.
I wouldn't trust these.
