cant sync phone with itunes

When I plug my phone into a PC, I am asked if I want to set up as new or restore. My phone is already set up. If I click cancel, I lose my iPhone icon on the screen.

See if this user-tip helps : Syncing to a "New" Computer or replacing a "crashed" Hard Drive

Some of the steps on that page are slightly different now (it was written for a previous version of iTunes) e.g.

5, File > Devices > Transfer Purchases

6, Reset Warnings is done via the bottom of the device's Summary tab in iTunes

They might be new, but it's the first time that you've connected the phone to that computer's iTunes, so as far as that iTunes is concerned it's a new device

Thanks for the reply, but this didn't help. Neither my PC nor my phone are new. But when I connect them iTunes sees it as new. I never get the chance to sync.
