Track pad not working correctly after upgrade to High Sierra

After upgrading to High Sierra my trackpad is not working properly. I have deleted most swipe options under Setting>Mouse/Trackpad and Settings>Accessibility and made "Click" firm. But nothing helps.

What is happening? While scrolling and without anything like a click, a slight or the even slightest hover is acting like a click. So that some page or document opens or some other action occurs that has nothing to do with what I am trying to do. I am scrolling. I am not clicking. (I am not "accidentally" clicking.)

Say I am looking down a list of search results - without any type of click, a page will open or the window will jump to different page. It's like the trackpad is hyper- so that lots of actions are being interpreted as clicks. I want a click to be a click just as before the upgrade.

How can I fix this behavior?

Thanks.

drennman10,

Hello and welcome to Apple Support Communities.
I'm understanding from your post the trackpad is not functioning properly after updating the macOS.

Below is an article for help with the trackpad. Give these steps a try.
If your pointer is jumpy when you use a trackpad, Magic Trackpad, or Magic Mouse

Let us know the outcome.
Have a great day!

Thanks for the response. Good reference.

Unfortunately, the information is not relevant to my issue. The problem started only at upgrade to High Sierra.

I am not doing anything different vis-a-vis my track pad than I was doing before (no jewelry, low battery, interference etc). Before upgrade it worked normally as expected. Now it does not.

The track pad is acting like the shortest of hovers during a scroll means the same as a click (my problem is not a jumpy cursor). I am not clicking. My track pad is fine. Are there other settings I need to checkout?

Thanks,
