Track pad not working correctly after upgrade to High Sierra

After upgrading to High Sierra my trackpad is not working properly. I have deleted most swipe options under Setting>Mouse/Trackpad and Settings>Accessibility and made "Click" firm. But nothing helps.

What is happening? While scrolling and without anything like a click, a slight or the even slightest hover is acting like a click. So that some page or document opens or some other action occurs that has nothing to do with what I am trying to do. I am scrolling. I am not clicking. (I am not "accidentally" clicking.)

Say I am looking down a list of search results - without any type of click, a page will open or the window will jump to different page. It's like the trackpad is hyper- so that lots of actions are being interpreted as clicks. I want a click to be a click just as before the upgrade.

How can I fix this behavior?

Thanks.
