Itunes doesn't limit episodes

I am running Itunes 12.6.2.20 not the latest version. I also have an issue in which the podcast I have set to limit episodes to most recent but Itunes will occassionally queue several podcasts and not the most recent. what makes it very bad is Itunes shows only the latest podcast and after it is finished playing conitues to the next and the next but doesn't display the podcast.

All previous versions of Itunes had this problem.
