MacBook display battery low at around 50% then black out

Hi, Recently my MacBook with Pro Retina display goes to black (shut off) after displaying battery low. But after I connect the charger to recharge, it starts at close to 50%. How could that be?

MacBook Pro (Retina, Mid 2012), macOS Sierra version 10.12.6

It's magic!! Make an appointment at the Apple Genius Bar for service. If you need to find an Apple Store - Find a Store - Apple. Ask they test the battery, your charger, and the motherboard. They will provide you with a diagnosis of any problems and an estimate of the cost to repair.
