Recommendations for an external drive for TimeMachine

Just got a new iMac with 1TB SSD drive. Looking for recommendations for an external 2TB drive for TimeMachine backups. Any suggestions?

(My 2013 iMac died. It had a Fusion drive and I had updated to High Sierra a few weeks ago. The HD portion of the Fusion drive was failing. My external TimeMachine backup, on an old WD drive, saved my <!{~.)

iMac, macOS High Sierra (10.13)

With a backup scheme using Time Machine, reliability is of utmost

importance as it is connected all the time and running all the time

your Mac is.

My recommendation would be to get a quality enclosure and a very high quality

HDD to put into it. Backup is not something you should do "on the cheap".

With that said, I would get one of the better OWC enclosures, without drive,

Then spend the money on an "enterprise" or "server" rated drive that are

designed for long term reliability.
